Get to know Ale
I was born in Rovereto, a small town in the north of Italy – 20 mins away from ski resorts. I think that’s why I started skiing when I was just 3 years old. I did ski races until I was 20 years old with good results in FIS races.
Since then, I spent my entire life skiing. Luckily my parents pushed me to do the instructor course, (honestly, I wasn’t sure about doing it because after so many years skiing about 150 days a year I didn’t want to put the boots on again for so long!) I did the ski instructor course whilst I was studying Sports Science at university in Italy.
I’ve worked in the Italian Alps for a couple of seasons teaching in a ski school and coaching a local ski club. In November 2013 I’ve moved to Australia where I ended up doing a winter season there, teaching the school club on all terrain. From intro to park, to race technique and off-piste in the gumtree forest. It was in Australia that I met some people from New Generation who introduced me to this community.
So when I flew back I started working with them in Méribel. I took another year overseas in 2017, but this time in New Zealand working in the race department. It was an amazing experience because after the season, I spent 7 months living in my van and exploring all the islands. Now I’m back in France every season to enjoy this amazing place.
What do you do after winter?
In the summer I work for a powerboat and jet-ski organisation of the world championships. This job has give me the chance to travel around the world, which is something I absolutely love.
At the same time, I do van conversions (since I’m a van lover and I’ve been travelling with it around Australia, New Zealand and all Europe and UK!) I’ve created a blog and YouTube channel about how to create your dream van.
Ale’s specialities
I absolutely LOVE teaching, I love how the people improve and have fun at the same time, I love how people challenge themselves and how they discover how great this sport is.
I’ve got experience teaching everyone. From kids to adults, private or group lessons for beginners and advanced skiers.
I love free-ride, and luckily in the last few years, I’ve had the chance to explore most of the off-piste in the Three Valleys – from the easy ones to the most challenging ones.
I’m also specialised in race coaching and this is something I know well since I started racing when I was just 6 years old.
I also do freestyle, maybe not 40-meter jumps but I still enjoy throwing a few nice tricks in the park.
Last but not least is carving. I love to use the shape of the skis to paint some great lines in the snow.
