If you’re serious about taking your skiing to the next level, then Courchevel is the resort for you. The resort is world famous for its wide open pistes and perfectly groomed runs but lurking in the background are a plethora of steep couloirs, open powder bowls and tree runs. Think about the terrain of your dreams and this resort will probably tick all of the boxes. While the rich and famous flock to Courchevel for the 5-star hotels, exclusive restaurants and cocktail bars. We love it for it’s mainly north facing mountains, hidden runs and because the rich and famous don’t ski very much, it’s quiet pistes.
As the season progresses, your skiing will transform as you work towards the internationally recognised BASI 1 & 2 Qualification.
Despite being internationally known as one of the most exclusive resorts in the world, the local community is a close and tight-knit group. The resort will quickly become your second home and chances are you will never want to leave. New Generation opened our first school in Courchevel in 1998, and it is still home to our head office. Whatever your level, Courchevel will continue to challenge you as the season progresses. It’s perfectly groomed pistes are the perfect place to work on high-performance skiing while the incredible off-piste available within minutes of the lifts has something for every level.
Based in the vast 3 Valley’s the worlds largest ski area, you have access to 5 of Europes best ski resorts. From the snow sure peaks in Val Thoren with steep north facing couloirs and wide open powder fields to the warmer resort of Meribel with it’s lively apres ski scene, it is easy to see why this resort is renowned as one of the best in the world. One week in Courchevel is never enough, if you want to experience it all you need to stay for the full season.
Away from the snow, Courchevel has a friendly relaxed atmosphere. A selection of local bars and clubs have live music and DJ’s on a regular basis. While the party scene is not as prolific as other resorts, the tight-knit community makes it feel more like home.

Having somewhere to switch off and relax is a key ingredient in making sure you get the most from your ski instructor course. For this reason, all our students stay in chalets, not hotels or apartments. You all eat together in your teams with home-cooked meals prepared by your host. Breakfast is supplied every day with lunch, dinner and even afternoon tea five days a week.
Chalet La Pierre has five twin rooms, a massive open plan living area and a ski room equipped with servicing benches. The living area is the perfect chill out area, with huge comfy sofas, British TV and Wifi. Once spring rolls around, there is also a garden for chilling in the sun. Don’t take our word for it though – check out the video.
During the program, you’ll work towards your BASI (British Association of Snowsports Instructors) Level 1 & 2. BASI offers a great route into the industry, with the Level 2 being recognised in ski schools around the globe, from right here in Europe to Japan, New Zealand and China to name a few.
The BASI level 2 will open doors to teaching clients of all ages on marked runs within the resort boundary. If you are looking at doing this programme as part of a gap year, then the BASI 2 has a few added benefits. It is aligned with the EQF (European Qualifications Framework) meaning you can use it to help secure access to further education. You will also find that during your university holidays there are plenty of opportunities to head out to the Alps and teach during the peak weeks.
Choosing the right course for you is an essential part of the process and will make your experience far more rewarding. If this course is not quite right then why not look at some of our other ski instructor courses?
